Welcome to the world of Tango-Folk!

The Tango-Folk company fuse dance, performance, percussion, comisidad, live music and drama resources in their spectacles. From the selection of danced Tangos a musical chronology is delinaeted subtly from Gardel to Piazzolla. As far as the Argentine Folklore, one puts the accent in the power of malambo of drums and the skillful use of boleadoras. The innovatoing seal of Tango Folk is done by the actoral interpretation of the dances and the introduction of personage as " Felisa" (puppet of whole body, insperated in the celebrity of "Tita Merelo") and a clown. Both interact with the audience.
With an ample range of artistic productiomns, that go from 10 minute- dance exhibitions to integral spectacles of 80 minutes, Tango-Folk invites you to find the show that agree most to your requirements. (see more in " Show")

Artistic Background
Having learnt many foreing dances like salsa and flamenco among many others, and having trained in drama and theatre-dance, Yago and Gala became deeply interested in the study of tango, folklore skills and argentine drum percussion which gave birth to their show. They are not just tango dancers but also artistes who let flow all their expression and creativity among Tango and Folklore chords. Yago's character and Gala's sympathy are the right combination between adrenaline and passion that characterise their performance.
They began the study of tango in 1997 with Juan Carlos Copes in his Tango - Dance workshop at The Auditorium Theatre in Mar del Plata.
Following later with the professional dancers Nestor Gude and Lucia Alonso who taught them Dinsen's and Todaro's tecniques, adding to their modern dance and jazz, plus other topics that have to do with show presentation, such as, the stage set-up and professional ethic. Both artistes inspierd Yago and Gala the taste and wishes to learn folklore dances and skills.
And... in this way they started. Later on they learned folklore percussion and the skillful use of "Boleadoras" (see gallery of videos).
This is how in 2001 they launched themselves in the old continent (Europe) travelling and looking for new audiences and expariences. They performed in Spain and Italy in outdoor shows; for example the organized by "Il Comune di Venezia".
In cabarets such as "Sauvage" and "Moon Light" in Milan, just to mention a few. During the years 2003 and 2004 with much more interest in expanding their career, they spread their art to new countries, travelling to and working in England, Spain, Scotland, France and Holland. They took part in festivals such as "Thames Festival" and "Edinburgh Fringe Festival" (Arch White Photographer). This time they not only took part in cabarets but also in restaurants and club-nights for example Vegas.
Back in their home country (Argentina) they continue performing their show in country-houses, at business meetings, anniversaries, social events, sport events for charities and promotions, such as the launching of Avon's new perfume "Passion Dance".

Yago Sculpture
Yago is an artist who not only express himself trough dance but also in the art of creating sculpture.
Submerged in the deep world of shapes, rythms, colours and balance he moulds his creativity.
His general training began in the Visual Art School in Mar del Plata. Then later he specialized himself in the small workshop of the great sculptor Hidelberg Ferrino with whom he worked for not a very long time, as his teacher soon passed away. Ferrinos`wife, the sculptor Elizabeth Eichhorn, took his place. A woman full of life and in her best artistic splendour, knew how to transmit all the knowledge she had acquired from her partner together with her own skills.
In Yago's sculptures we are able to see various topics: faces as in "Donna Azul" and "El lado oscuro", hands as in "Dios te salve, mentira" and "La rueda del tiempo", bodies as in "La flor del amor" and "El manto"; animals as in "La reina de los cielos" and tango as in "Pasional I", "Pasional II" and "Obsceno garabato".
